This is a post long in the making but should not be overlooked….its an all time favorite place/event of mine and one we attend every Sunday, give or take a weekend getaway or two.

Anyway, for those of you who don’t know or don’t live in the KL area, Bangsar is a widely popular neighborhood, attracting both expats and locals alike. It’s a great place for shopping, eating, drinking, and more. Perhaps one of the busiest days in Bangsar is Sunday, due to the ever popular Bangsar Sunday “night” Market. It actually gets going around 3pm or so when regulars, such as ourselves, stop after brunch to grab fresh vegetables, fruit, seafood, and flowers, but the party really gets going around dark and lasts towards midnight or so.

The Bangsar market is located in Bangsar Village, on a street just behind Bangsar Village II shopping center. The vendors range from vegetables & fruit to fresh seafood & flowers to made to order laksa & satay to popular Indian treats & mens/womens/kids clothing. You won’t find a “wet” market here for chicken, beef, and pork, but otherwise its got it all. Its an absolute blast just to walk around and people watch, take pictures, and sample flavors of the country.

The prices are very good, which is why we choose to get the majority of our produce, seafood, local snacks, and flowers here. If you are a regular, like us, then it makes it even more fun, as the vendors recognize us as regular customers and treat us very warmly, week after week. It truly is such a fun way to be a part of the local community, while enjoying the flavors of Malaysian and saving money to boot!

Below are some pictures I’ve snapped along the way throughout the past year. Please do yourself a favor and go check it out!

One Response to Bangsar Sunday Market

  1. […] Pasar Malam (Night Market) takes on various names. We were there in the afternoon for the Sunday Market. Popular street food and drink stalls open the market – Roti John, Briyani, BBQ Chicken Wings […]
