INFORMATION HIGHWAY!

There is so much information available to us nowadays in a plethora of ways. We thought we would share with you a few of our favorite travel related websites as well as some of our favorite apps.

This is a work in progress and we welcome input on your favs too! Please note that the website links and app names will always appear on the right-hand side of our blog page.

A few noteworthy items:

Websites

TripAdvisor

Trip Advisor is both a website plus they have an app. This is hands down the best website ever!! We get lost for hours on end both in preparation of a trip as well as while on a trip finding new things to do & new places to eat! From flights to hotels/B&B’s, restaurants, “things to do”…this website really does cover it all. They rate each item based on reviews by travelers. They even have forums on different topics for assistance, clarification, etc. Really can’t say enough great things about Trip Advisor!!

VISA HQ

Highly recommend you visit this website MONTHS in advance of when you plan on traveling oversees. Visa HQ helps to expedite passports & helps to facilitate visa requirements for every country out there!

STEP

It is so important that not only your loved ones know where you are going but also the US government. That way if anything happens, there is record of you being there. Do This!!

Kayak

A fantastic search engine to help you find the lowest fares.

Apps

eCurrency– awesome tool to find out how much you are spending!

TripIt– love this app!! Email them your itineraries and it compiles it all into 1 “trip”

Packing Pro– lists to choose from or create your own!

Flightboard– keeps track of flights & times

Gateguru– find shops & restaurants in any airport worldwide.

Frommers– there are a ton of tools within this one app but I specifically like the tipping one…..gives guidelines for every country.

Last but certainly not least…..Lonely Planet Guidebooks. We get one before every country we visit. Another great tool for finding out where to stay, where to eat, where to shop, etc.

 Happy (& safe) travels!

Kimbra & David
